HomeParents FAQ
Questions parents ask us at the front desk
Short answers about ages, check-in, cost, consent and what happens after you go home.
Before you come
What ages do you see?
Children from 3 months through 18 years. Babies under 3 months with a fever need a children's emergency room.
Do I need an appointment?
No. Walk-ins are always welcome. Checking in online holds your place in line so you wait at home.
What should I bring?
Your child's insurance card, your photo ID, a list of medicines and allergies, and a comfort item like a blanket or stuffed animal.
Can I give a fever reducer before we come?
Yes, if your child normally takes one. Tell us the medicine, dose and time so we can plan the next dose.
Cost and insurance
Do you take TennCare?
Yes. We accept TennCare and CoverKids plans, plus most employer and Marketplace plans.
What does a visit cost without insurance?
$125 for the visit. Rapid tests start at $25, x-rays at $70, and stitches at $150. We tell you the price before any add-on.
What if you send us to the ER?
There is no charge for the visit. We call ahead to the children's hospital and send our notes with you.
During the visit
Can a grandparent or sitter bring my child?
Yes, with a signed consent-to-treat form. Fill it out once and we keep it on file for a year.
Can siblings come along?
Of course. We have a nursing room, a diaper station and coloring sheets for the whole crew.
Will my child need a shot?
Most visits involve no needles at all. When one is needed, we use numbing gel and a parent's lap.
After you go home
Will my pediatrician know about the visit?
Yes. We send visit notes to your child's pediatrician by the next morning.
Do you give school or daycare notes?
Yes, plus a work note for you if you need one.
Do you follow up?
A nurse calls the next day for x-rays, stitches and any child under 2.
Ready when you are.
Open tonight until 11 PM. Check in for a spot and wait at home.
