Six kinds of work, one way of doing it: a price in writing before we start and a 2-year guarantee when we finish.
Drains and sewer lines
Many Cincinnati homes still drain through clay or cast iron pipe laid before 1960. Roots find the joints. We clear the line, then run a camera so you see the cause on video.

Root cutting
Spot repairs and relining
Floor drains
Most booked service, about 40% of our calls
Water heaters
Tank or tankless, gas or electric. We repair what can be repaired and tell you straight when a tank is done. Replacements usually happen the same week, often the same day.
No hot water repairs
Leaking tanks
Yearly flushes
Tank replacements
Tankless installs
Expansion tanks
Old tank hauled away at no charge
Sump pumps
Spring storms and a high water table keep basement pumps busy across the Ohio Valley. We install pumps sized for your pit and add a battery backup for nights the power goes out.

Battery backups
Float switch repairs
High water alarms
Spring checkups
New pits and basins
Book a checkup in March, before the rain
Faucets and toilets
The small fixes that add up on the water bill. Bring your own fixture or pick one from our van. Either way, we install it level, sealed and tested.
Dripping faucets
Running toilets
New sinks and vanities
Garbage disposals
Shower valves
Outdoor spigots
Most fixture jobs take under two hours
Water lines and repipes
Galvanized pipe rusts shut from the inside, and some older homes still have a lead service line. We replace them with copper or PEX and patch what we open.
Whole-home repipes
Lead service lines
Main water lines
Pressure regulators
Leak repairs
Shutoff valves
Estimates for repipes are always free
Frozen and burst pipes
Pipes on outside walls and in crawl spaces freeze first when the temperature drops into the teens. We thaw them safely, repair the split, and insulate so it does not happen again.

Burst pipe repair
Pipe insulation
Frost-free spigots
Crawl space lines
Winter shutoffs for empty homes
After-hours calls go to a Hartley, not a service
Every visit
How a Hartley visit goes.
You pick a window
Morning or afternoon, online or by phone. We confirm within the hour.
We call ahead
Your plumber calls 30 minutes out and shows up in a marked green van.
Price in writing
We find the problem, explain it in plain English and write down the price.
Fixed and swept up
We test the work, clean up and leave you a 2-year guarantee.
Plumbing by the season
Cincinnati weather, Cincinnati plumbing.
The calls follow the calendar. Get ahead of each season with one visit.
Winter
Frozen pipes on outside walls and burst spigots. Insulate in November.
Spring
Sump pumps run hard and basements flood. Test the pump in March.
Summer
Tree roots chase water into sewer lines. Slow drains are the first sign.
Fall
Flush the water heater and shut off outdoor spigots before the first frost.
Questions we hear a lot.
Do you charge to come out?
There is a $69 service call fee. It goes toward the repair when you have us do the work. Estimates for repipes, sewer replacements and water heater replacements are free.
Do you work in Northern Kentucky?
Yes. Ray and Danny hold Kentucky master plumber licenses, and we serve Covington, Newport, Fort Thomas, Bellevue, Fort Mitchell and Florence.
Will the same plumber come back?
If you ask, we schedule the same plumber. Many families have had the same Hartley for twenty years.
What does the 2-year guarantee cover?
Our workmanship on every repair and install for two years. Manufacturer warranties on parts and water heaters come on top of that.
Do you take emergency calls?
Yes. After 6 PM and on Sundays, calls to (513) 555-0162 ring a Hartley on call. There is an after-hours fee, and we tell you what it is before we drive out.
