Storm damage and claims
Hail, wind and the claim that follows
We inspect, document and meet your adjuster. You decide every step. Here is how it works, in order, with no fine print.
The first 24 hours
Do these four things after the storm
Safety first. Stay off the roof. Everything on this list happens from the ground or inside the house.
Check for leaks
Look at ceilings and in the attic. Put a bucket under drips and move anything water can ruin.
Call for a tarp
If water is coming in, call (817) 555-0163. Our tarp crews work nights and weekends during storms.
Photograph and note the time
Shoot dented gutters, downspouts, AC fins and cracked skylights. Write down when the storm hit.
Slow down at the door
Do not sign anything with a door-knocker you do not know. Ask for a local address and recent references.
Damage self-check
What can you see from the ground?
Tick what you notice around the house. The panel tells you how urgent it looks and what to do next.
No visible signs yet
Nothing obvious from the ground
Hail bruises on shingles rarely show from the yard. If a storm with hail passed over your street, a free 45 minute inspection settles it.

Insurance basics
What a policy usually covers
General guidance, not legal advice. Your policy and your adjuster have the final word, so read your declarations page.
Usually covered
- Sudden hail and wind damage
- Water damage inside from a storm opening
- Emergency tarping to prevent more damage
- Damaged gutters, vents and flashing
Depends on the policy
- Full replacement cost or actual cash value
- Code upgrades required by the city
- Matching shingles on undamaged slopes
- Detached garages and sheds
Usually not covered
- Normal wear and old age
- Damage from poor past repairs
- Leaks left unreported for months
- Your deductible
About your deductible: Texas law does not allow a roofer to waive, pay or rebate your insurance deductible. If someone offers to, that is a red flag. We can finance the deductible if it helps.
Questions
Storm claim questions
Something else on your mind? Call the office and ask for Tasha.
Will a claim raise my premium?
Ask your agent. Premiums depend on your policy, your claim history and how your insurer treats weather claims. Many homeowners call their agent before filing, and that is a smart move.
How long do I have to file?
Your policy sets the deadline, so check it. Do not wait for the next storm. Damage from two storms is harder to separate, and adjusters notice.
What if my claim is denied?
We review the decision with you. If our report shows damage the adjuster missed, we can ask for a re-inspection with the photos. If the roof has no storm damage, we tell you that too.
Do I have to use the roofer my insurance company suggests?
No. You choose your contractor. Your insurer pays for the approved scope of work no matter who does it.
Can you tarp my roof tonight?
Yes. Call (817) 555-0163. During storms the line rolls to a crew lead after hours, and most tarps go up within three hours of the call.
